Raising Geese The Proper Way
A major part of
handling geese deals with getting the geese to be reared up
properly. This is important because geese are not able to take care
of themselves during the first few weeks of their lives. The process
of how to raise geese is important to use in that it works to get
the geese to be brought up properly. This is a very easy process to
handle and it can work with all sorts of different factors including
food and shelter.
It helps to first consider the acreage of the area that the geese
will be raised in. About one acre of space is going to be good
enough for handling about twenty geese on average. It helps to use
this consideration when raising geese so that it will be easier for
the geese to be brought up with ease and so that they will have
enough space to live in.
Using one male and one female is best for
raising
geese. When one male meets with a female that male will
generally not stray towards any other females after the male and
female begin breeding.
The next tip to use for handling geese is to prepare a good amount
of shelter for the birds. While a strong fence is important for any
area that the geese will be in it will be very important to consider
using some type of indoor shelter. Wooden crates or other small
wooden coverings can be used for geese during some of the toughest
weather times of the year.
After new geese are hatched it will be very important to handle
these newer geese carefully because they are not going to be able to
take care of themselves like older geese can. General poultry food
can be used for
feeding
geese but it will be very important to keep them from consuming
grass products until about two weeks after they are hatched.
Providing a good amount of water is also important for
keeping
geese. The water should be fresh and pure so that it will be
especially nourishing. A natural stream or pond in an area can be
used but it will be important to consider the quality of the water
in one of these areas because some water sources can become dirty
over time.
